   NOTE:  This position is for the 2024-2025 school year. The salary will be based on the 2024-2025 salary schedule which is not yet approved by the Board of Education. The salary listed is based on the current year's salary schedule. 

 

HEALTHROOM/ATTENDANCE PARAPROFESSIONAL, 7.5 hrs/191 days per year

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Knowledge of basic computer programs/functions
3. Current CPR and First Aid Certification
4. Experience preferred

REPORTS TO:
Building Principal/Coordinator of Health Services


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Promote an optimal level of wellness for students and staff.
2. Uphold professional standards, the Missouri Nurse Practice Act, and other statutes and regulations applicable to the practice of school nursing.
3. Collaborate with other health services team members.
4. Provide relevant and reliable health-related information to students, families, and staff.
5. Assist with health screenings and subsequent follow-up.
6. Pursue relevant professional development opportunities.
7. Maintain current immunization records for each student and notify parents of deficiencies in a timely manner.
8. Properly and accurately document all clinic visits. Include times, reasons for visits, treatment provided, communication with parents, etc.
9. Dispense medication and provide treatment as prescribed by physician and delegated by the school nurse according to District policy and procedures.
10. Maintain and secure area for all prescription medications brought for students.
11. Ensure proper procedures are followed for receiving, dispensing, and returning prescription medicines to parents.
12. Provide basic health care triage to students under the delegation of the School Nurse.
13. Respond to medical emergencies and contact nurse or emergency medical personnel as necessary. Provide first aid according to established policies and procedures and complete and file necessary forms.
14. Determine the necessity or immediacy for sending students home or back to their classroom.
15. Contact parents if student needs to be picked up for immediate attention.
16. Issue absence and tardy slips to students during the first hour of the day.
17. Supervise the collection of attendance reports from the classroom.
18. Supervise the keeping of daily attendance sheets.
19. Confer with parents on daily absences and makes home calls when necessary.
20. Supervise the keeping of tardiness records.
21. Consult with and counsel students on matters regarding attendance and tardiness, making every effort to gain their cooperation, but reminding them of penalties when necessary.
22. Investigate attendance problems reported by others.
23. Provide attendance information to the guidance counselors and principal.
24. Maintain a file on all referrals, counseling, and action taken.
25. Refer to the attendance supervisor those cases of chronic absenteeism, tardiness, or truancy that have proved unresponsive to counseling.
26. Maintain Health Services office by updating health records, tracking inventory, filing and other related functions for the maintenance of an organized and effective health office, handling telephone calls and other communications in a professional manner.
27. Other duties, as assigned by building principal or Coordinator of Health Services.
