NOTE: This position is for the 2024-2025 school year. The salary will be based on the 2024-2025 salary schedule which is not yet approved by the Board of Education. The salary listed is based on the current year's salary schedule.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Position is responsible for organizing the football program for GHS and the Grandview C-4 school district. Position conducts practices, motivates students, and instructs student athletes in game strategies and techniques for GHS. Develops a
winning program that results in student athletes that achieve their potential academically, athletically, and socially.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess or eligible for Missouri Teacher Certification or Substitute Teacher Certification
- Minimum 3 years prior coaching experience; preferably head coaching experience.
- Must be able to coach in a style, which is organized, interactive and student centered.
- Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents and students.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Athletic/Activities Director
SUPERVISES: 55 varsity student athletes, 30 freshmen
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Select the assistant coaches for the sport with assistance from the principal and the athletic/activities director.
- Monitor the performance of the assistant coaches in his/her charge.
- Hold pre-season meeting with students to discuss philosophy of the program and inform them of responsibilities and regulations.
- Coach individual student athletes in the skills necessary for excellence in chosen sport.
- Make systematic grade, attendance, and behavior checks on students to ensure that they remain eligible.
- Plan and schedule a regular program of practice in season.
- Instructs players in rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
- Work with the athletic/activities director in scheduling, purchasing equipment, supplies, uniforms, etc.
- Maintain necessary attendance forms, insurance records, lineups, etc.
- Establish performance criteria for eligibility for competition.
- Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
- Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behaviors at all times, and establish and oversee penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
- Supervises the athletes during all games and until the facilities are locked and secured after the conclusion of an event or designate a responsible individual to do so.
- Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting.
- Ensures that accurate statistics are available to the media and other interested parties, including area and state honor selection committees and college recruiters.
- Work closely with college recruiters in-person and through email, regular mail, and phone calls.
- Organize camps and clinics for all program levels when appropriate.
- Work with coaches at other program levels and the middle schools to develop a consistent program.
- Organize and oversee off-season conditioning and weight room lifting programs.
- Attend/participate in clinics to enhance knowledge, improve coaching performance and overall program. All high school and middle school coaches will attend.
- Plan and coordinate end of year awards banquet and senior night.
- Participate in school events such as parent nights, pep rallies , and other special activities.
- Oversee the process of cleaning, repairing and storing all football equipment including the weightroom.
